In the years Brendon was at university training to be a journalist, two of the three daily newspapers in his hometown closed down. He figured this was nature’s way of telling him to go into advertising as a copywriter, where he stayed for twenty-six years, created campaigns for everything from John West to the TAC and ended up as the Executive Creative Director at Ogilvy & Mather Melbourne. In between, he found time to write screenplays that were occasionally made into films.
